Land of talk kicked the night off to a great start, showcasing some beautiful yet hard-hitting tunes. The female-fronted trio is set to support Wolf Parade throughout the US and into their European tour Dates.
The floor was packed solid by the time Wolf Parade took the stage. A sweaty sea of fans cheered as they kicked off their set with “Soldier’s Grin.” I couldn’t help but notice how incredible Dan Boeckner’s guitar tone was. Touching on older material, and of course, new songs from their 2020 album “Thin Mind” the band pleased fans old and new.
Towards the middle of the set, I looked out across the crowd – not a single person wasn’t dancing. Not to mention, the band hadn’t stopped moving since the beginning of their set. Illuminated only by the lights of a projector featuring animations of dancing aliens, and psychedelic murals, the band was practically playing in the dark-which was impressive in and of itself.
At the end of “Forest Green,” the band takes a bow and heads off stage only to return with three more songs.
