Money, it’s a gas. “Money,” it’s also an eccentric new single and music video from Widowspeak that’s got us rocking out with headphones blaring. This driving and straight-forward piece derives from the fear of our increasingly capitalistic world; the fear of monetizing anything possible.
Reflecting on American consumerism is one thing, but to invite an empirical evaluation of one’s own work and daily living is quite another altogether. “Money” does this seamlessly, with vocal lines that perpetuate the song into an atmosphere of bright and flowing harmony.
The music video depicts our feverish need to harvest the earth for the benefit of mankind, for better or for worse. Cut shots depict the band in an open field taking on the visual of being minimal, or maybe it’s a look into our future.
