Weezer announced their eleventh studio album today, Pacific Daydream. The album is due out on October 29th from Crush Music/Atlantic Records. The first track off the album, “Feels Like Summer,” was released in March and has become the sleeper hit of the summer. It has become their biggest radio hit in a decade.
The new album began life as a completely different project. Its initial title was “The Black Album,” but as the band wrote, they found the songs sounded “like reveries from a beach at the end of the world.” So they retitled the album and went another direction completely, and the result “sounds like the Beach Boys and The Clash fell in love by the ocean and had one hell of an amazing baby.”
Weezer also released a new video today for their latest single off the new album “Mexican Fender.” Directed by Lior Molcho, it features a lovestruck seagull named Gilli trying to woo a female beachgoer by giving her flowers and staring at her longingly from behind a mound of sand.
You can preorder the vinyl in two limited edition colorways, a black and white splatter limited to 2,000 copies or a transparent with pink splatter limited to 1,000 copies here.
The band is on tour now, playing a few dates in the US before heading over to the UK. Check out the dates and buy tickets here.
