John Dunsworth, best known for his portrayal of Sunnyvale Trailer Park Supervisor Mr. Lahey in Trailer Park Boys, passed away on Monday at the age of 71. Confirmed in a statement by his daughter Sarah Dunsworth (a.k.a. Sarah on TPB) –

“With heavy and broken hearts the family of John F. Dunsworth would like to let people know that our amazing husband, father and grandfather John Dunsworth has passed away. John left this world peacefully after a short and unexpected illness.”

A lifelong Nova Scotia resident, John Dunsworth was vital to the introduction and growth of the film industry to the region by doing everything from running a casting agency to building sets and recording voiceovers. Ellen Page, Halifax’s most notable actor in Hollywood, can trace her origins to Dunsworth and Trailer Park Boys where she made her television debut as Mr. Lahey’s daughter Treena.

John Dunsworth was not a drinker, in contrast to his character Mr. Lahey. Often on the road when not filming, he was scheduled to tour this week in Florida with Patrick Roach (Randy) until this tragedy happened unexpectedly. His comedy and kindness was infectious to all.

John F. Dunsworth was 71 years old. Below are reactions to the heart-wrenching news from some of his co-stars and others.
