Thursday night had the weekend vibes a tad bit early over at the Hollywood Palladium when nostalgia called. Long Island’s Taking Back Sunday held night one of two in celebration of their 20th anniversary as a band and musical brotherhood.

Frank Iero

Getting the crowd hyped up was none other than Frank Iero! Former guitarist and backup vocalist for My Chemical Romance now takes stages with his band, The Future Violence.
Although the crowd was packed with TBS fans, there seemed to be a generous following excited for Frank! He and his band got the crowd super hyped with their pop/punk antics. For an opening act, he had the full attention of the crowd and practically demanded it!

Taking Back Sunday

With only a small intermission, Taking Back Sunday took the stage! The special treat of the tour was the promised performance of the band’s 2002 debut record Tell All Your Friends in its entirety!

The energy was eclectic as the packed house pushed and shoved against the stage’s barricade, screaming every word to each classic song along with frontman, Adam Lazzara. The beloved frontman danced his way across the stage, leaving no spot untouched, as well as his popular and established microphone cord spins and tricks in full effect!

Now after the promised straight set of the debut record came the deciding coin toss. The show wasn’t even close to being done as the band did promise to also perform either their second record Where You Want To Be or their third, Louder Now, all decided on a said coin flip! What was a surprise was when Lazzara called out his “friend” and WWE wrestler, Seth Rollins to perform the coin flip. After much anticipation, the flip revealed that the band would, in fact, perform the sophomore record, Where You Want To Be.

If you’re one of the lucky enough to attend the second of two shows at the Palladium, you’d then get to hear the promised Tell All Your Friends followed by the third record Louder Now with the well-known hit “Makedamnsure” as the third track! We did get to hear the incredibly classic Where You Want To Be in its’ entirety including the ever-popular “A Decade Under The Influence” and “This Photograph Is Proof (I Know You Know)” which Lazzara mentioned that before this anniversary your was so rarely performed live!

Taking Back Sunday

The whole night was such a whirlwind of nostalgia as one of our favorite bands showed us their magic. We also got a three-track heavy hitter encore with “You Can’t Look Back” off the 2016 release Tidal Wave, “All Ready To Go” recently released in January, and of course the crowd pleaser, MakeDamnSure!

Until next time, Taking Back Sunday. They sure made some longtime fans very happy with this anniversary celebration. Cheers to 20 more years!
