Run The Jewles album cover

RUn the Jewels Letter

Run the Jewels dropped their eagerly awaited new album, RTJ4, today in a surprise move. RTJ4 wasn’t due out until next week on June 8th. And the best thing about it is it is that El-P and Killer Mike made it completely free! Download your copy here.

El-P commented on the band’s decision:

“For me this is the only way I really know how to contribute to the human struggle and experience beyond just trying to be kind and aware and grow. For FREE for ANYONE who wants some music. It’s the only weapon I’m truly trained in and I’m grateful to have it.”

“I don’t have shit left to say right now that me and my brother @killermike don’t express on this album so I’m not saying shit anymore til then. on it is all our joy, humor, friendship and rage. We got bangers to help you lose yourself and smile and we got shit that comes from the deepest places in our hearts.”

After the George Floyd killing, riots broke out in Atlanta, Killer Mike’s home town. His impassioned speech to appeal to the protestors went viral. He urged people to not burn down their own houses. Watch his entire speech below, I highly recommend it:

The album includes a number of exciting collaborations. Team-ups include Josh Homme, Zack De La Rocha, 2 Chainz, Mavis Staples and Pharrell Williams.

In typical Run the Jewels fashion, the physical album is available for preorder in a number of different packages. Options include exclusive magenta and gold vinyl colorways, t-shirt and hoodie packages and even a cassette. Preorder RTJ4 here.

Run the Jewels also recently released a superb video. Watch the “Ooh LA LA” video here.

The album is also available to stream, so hit it up on your favorite streaming service.
