Royal Blood released a video for the track “How Did We Get So Dark?” off their latest album of the same name. The video was directed by The Sacred Egg, the multi-media collective behind the music videos for Arcade Fire’s “Everything Now” and Royal Blood’s previous “Lights Out.”
In it, a ruthless hitman is shooting people to collect their rabbits. Rabbits as in the rodent kind are a kind of currency in this alternate dimension. The boys from Royal Blood, Mike Kerr and Ben Thatcher, are a rival group, also collecting rabbits. A car chase ensues with rabbits perched all over the car until, a group of women, bearing carrots, steal all the rabbits from the ruthless hitman, and our boys ride into the sunset. The viewer is left with more questions than answers. Is this a bizarre mating ritual? Why rabbits? Are they a metaphor for masculine virility?
Royal Blood recently wrapped a string of sold out dates supporting Queens of the Stone Age. They are heading off to the UK to play a series of arena shows before returning to the States early next year. Royal Blood is playing the KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas at The Forum on December 9th, and will return, supporting Queens of the Stone Age here in Los Angeles at The Forum on February 17th.
