Combining crafty rock melodies with brazen ska genius, the gents in the band Call Me Malcolm might be the best export out of Kent, UK ever. Infectious hooks combined with three-part harmonies are reoccurring themes throughout their songs, which only adds to their infectious music. Described by Vinnie Fiorello of Less Than Jake as “a saving grace of the genre”, the band will instantly become your new favorite UK export.
Vocalist and guitarist Lucias Malcolm took some time to provide us with answers to the pressing questions below!
HOW IS QUARANTINE LIFE? WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO KEEP YOURSELF
OCCUPIED AT HOME?
Lucias Malcolm: We’ve all been extremely fortunate enough to carry on working, so keeping occupied hasn’t been a problem. Looking after our mental health has been the battle. Personally, I’ve tried to exercise, eat cleanly, and not fall into too many negative routines. Some of these have been done more successfully than others.
WHEN THIS IS ALL OVER, WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO THE MOST?
Lucias: Playing the new songs live! Obviously we’re looking forward to touring in general, but having a new record out means the big thing is the excitement of seeing how the new songs are received by crowds.
LET US KNOW A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE PLAYLIST YOU’VE COMPILED FOR US!
Lucias: Playlist by committee! Every band member suggested about 5-10 tracks that meant something emotionally to them, so this 15 got whittled down from about 40.
