Known for their infectious indie-rock hooks and charming English demeanor, the gents in Circa Waves are at the top of their game. Formed in 2013 in the musical haven of Liverpool, UK, the band has been addicted to creating music for the masses and can’t seem to stop. With four studio albums to their name, their latest effort released March 13th titled ‘Sad Happy‘ has been their most successful to date. Charting at #4 in the UK, the album spawned an acoustic version titled ‘Sadder Happier‘ that is truly brilliant.
Get Some Magazine took some time to chat with bassist Sam Rourke. Below are the beans he spilled!
HOW IS QUARANTINE LIFE?
Sam Rourke: It seems like most people are having a similar experience really, loads of ups and downs! I’m definitely getting to the point now where I’ve lost all sense of time though.
WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO KEEP YOURSELF OCCUPIED AT HOME?
Sam: We’re all just trying to use the time to work on some new music, it’s kind of the only thing we can do right now. Obviously I’ve been doing all the usual lockdown stuff too like baking too much bread, watching Tiger King and the MJ documentaries as well trying to run around the park once a day.
WHEN THIS IS ALL OVER, WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO THE MOST?
Sam: Going back on tour! We were just about to tour our new record Sad Happy but we had to postpone it. It really isn’t natural for musicians to be at home for this long, we’re not built for it.
LET US KNOW A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE PLAYLIST YOU’VE COMPILED FOR US!
Sam: It’s a bit emo I’m afraid! I’ve always been drawn to things that are on the sadder side of the musical spectrum I think and these are all songs that just seem to hit me emotionally.
