Every Time I Die’s holiday show “Tid The Season” seems to get bigger and bigger each year. No longer just hype among the locals in the scene, this show has transcended into something much bigger. An event that’s looked forward to months ahead. People travel from all over for the iconic event. This year was no exception with two nights of music and mayhem.
Friday kicked off with Mercy Union and All Get Out. Both bands added some indie rock flavor to balance out the heavier lineup. The energy picked up instantly upon the following sets from Harm’s Way and Terror. Both hardcore bands got the pit moving and hyped the room up.
As the room filled in The Damned Things took the stage. A supergroup featuring ETID’s Keith Buckley. It felt special to witness such a hard-hitting set from this band. Punk legends Against Me! would follow with their anthemic jams. By now the room was full and anticipation had been stirring. The soft Christmas music playing between sets served as a sort of calm before the storm.
Every Time I Die kicked off their set from behind a white backdrop with an explosion of sparks and light. Explosive is the perfect way to describe this set. Production had been added since last year to perfectly balance out the band’s high energy.
From the second the set starts it seems like no one is standing still. The band is running and jumping around without missing a beat. The crowd roars back as if they’d been waiting all year for precisely this moment.
ETID played with the same fresh energy and power that they’ve maintained throughout their extensive career. The room was transfixed on the stage with plentiful crowd surfers and mosh pits.
Despite all this energy it almost felt like a warm-up for the second sold-out night. It’s rare for a band to make such a mark like this but Every Time I Die has done it. Already looking forward to what next year’s show will bring.
