Dream pop meets electronic folk; whatever you want to call the British songstress known as Molento there’s no denying the power of her voice and music. Her latest single “Dakota” recalls the horrors of 2016’s Dakota Pipeline protests, where the U.S. government steamrolled over Native Americans and activists on behalf of greedy corporations trying to exploit sacred lands and water resources. Molteno’s somber but impassioned voice, along with the song’s minimalist, but heart-wrenching electronic instrumentation all tie together brilliantly and help remind the listener who messed up the Dakota Pipeline incident really was.
