LCD SOUNDSYSTEM – OBSERVATORY, SANTA ANA, CALIF.
LCD Soundsystem took the stage in front of a sold-out crowd Tuesday night, all 550 of the Observatory’s capacity crowd in Santa Ana, and put on a performance that would impress any of their larger crowds – let’s face it they’ve sold-out Madison Square Garden.
The show opened with “Yr City’s a Sucker” off the “Introns” album and continually built momentum as the night went on. Lead singer James Murphy sipped a glass of red wine from time-to-time between his duties at the microphone and his contributions to Pat Mahoney on the drums.
As the music continued, fans didn’t take a break either, with a setlist that included older hits such as “Daft Punk Is Playing At My House,” “Someone Great,” and some of their latest tracks “oh baby” and “emotional haircut.”
The standing room only crowd sang along, raised their hands to the sky and danced as the disco ball spun over the band, shooting beams of light into the crowd that revealed small glimpses of fans enjoying every moment of the show.
For such an intimate show, they chose the perfect track to close, “All My Friends” – a song that seemed quite perfect for the atmosphere at the Observatory. LCD Soundsystem will be wrapping up their U.S. tour this week with shows at the Santa Barbara Bowl on Thursday, and the Hollywood Bowl on Friday and Saturday.
