The first time I heard of Khalid was at my little brotherʼs school talent show. My little brother was performing “Location” and I instantly got hooked on how catchy that song is. In the months following that, Khalid put out ‘American Teenʼ which skyrocketed the El Paso teenʼs career with singles “Young, Dumb and Broke”,”Location” and “Saved”.
But Iʼm pretty sure yʼall know enough about him. Between all the award nominations (and wins) and all the collaborations with a few of your favorite artists, not to mention all the radio airplay and youtube videos. Khalid is no stranger to the world.
Fast forward to May 2018. 9 days after his tour began, Khalid stopped in Los Angeles to perform 2 sold out shows at the world famous Greek Theater. Unfortunately, I wasnʼt able to cover the first night but I was told that he brought out special guests Shawn Mendes, Normani and Bryson Tiller. So you know that show got down.
On to the second night at the Greek theater. As the crowd packed the venue on a very beautiful night in Los Angeles the anticipation grew stronger and stronger by the second. Khalid opened his set with a banger, performing one of his top hits “8TEEN” to get things going. For the next hour and a half, he performed hit after hit and introduced some new songs to his sea of fans.
Just like night 1, Khalid brought out a few special guests. This night he had Billie Eilish, Normani, and Miguel performing his hit song “Sky Walker”. (Personally, I lost my shit to that. In a good way).
After 25 songs, the great Khalid closed the night and his LA stop of the Roxy tour with one of his newest singles “OTW” which in my opinion was a very good ender to an amazing night of good music and good vibes.
Itʼs undeniable that Khalid isnʼt stopping anytime soon and will just drop all the hits. I am definitely looking forward to him to drop his new record and see him rack up some Grammyʼs.
