Mixing electronic, acoustic and taking from Iris Lune’s vocalist Ella Joy’s background in Middle Eastern and Israeli folk music, the band truly finds a unique sound in single “Chirp Chirp”.
Flutes open the song as Joy begins to sing. Electronic beats kick in. The drop is heavy and unexpected but a nice touch. Interestingly, All percussion sounds in on the track were created from bedroom objects. Iris Lune describes the song as the feeling of a person trapped in their own shell but ultimately finding freedom in their surroundings.
Keeping with the theme, The video follows the parallel journey of a woman and her bird, both eventually finding freedom. It’s abstract and beautiful, using yellow as a statement color, inspired by the lyric “a bird on a lemon tree”. Watching the video here!
