Hundredth, the Myrtle Beach, SC hardcore turned indie-pop shoegaze threesome have joined forces with Stereogum to premiere “Whatever” the first taste of brand new music since their 2017 full-length, ‘RARE‘, pushed the band into uncharted waters.
RARE was a rebranding of sorts that allowed Hundredth to fully move past their roots in aggressive music and mature into a kind of vibrant shoegaze and driving alternative that felt both organic and daring all at once.
Their latest single “Whatever” continues to reinvent their sound. All traces of heaviness are gone, replaced by dreamy synths, reverb-laden guitar leads, and the band’s most overtly hooky chorus to date, led by frontman Chadwick Johnson’s ethereal vocals.
