Gus Dapperton really knows how to put on a show, and the LA concert-goers found that out first hand at the Roxy this past week. Although he’s fairly new on the scene, Dapperton sold out the first show so quickly that a second show was added in order to give a few more fans the chance to see him perform live.
Encouraging the crowd to dance and move with him, the atmosphere of the night was fantastic. Smooth, ethereal synthpop filled the venue, causing the audience to sway, losing themselves in the music.
Partway through the set, he introduced the band members, stating funny facts about each of them and jokingly noting that every member was 6’5”. He didn’t speak much through the night, allowing instead the music to speak for itself. He moved around the stage, making use of the entire space and it was fun to watch the band members interact with each other while performing. Not knowing what to expect, having never seen Gus Dapperton perform live before, the night was thoroughly enjoyable.
