Metalcore turned pop-rock sensation Bring Me The Horizon have debuted the official music video today for their single “mother tongue”. It’s chalked full of tricks, levitation, and romantic goo.
The track comes from the band’s sixth album amo, dropped back in January of this year.
Talking with Zane Lowe earlier this year, frontman Oli Sykes tells the Beats 1 DJ that the track—which follows previous singles “medicine,” “wonderful life” (featuring Cradle Of Filth‘s Dani Filth) and “MANTRA“—was inspired by meeting his wife.
“It’s probably the most gushing, out there, just straight up love song we’ve ever written,” Sykes explains. “This was one of the easier ones to write because it was positive. It’s about when I first met my new wife and she’s from Brazil.”
The musician continues, “She didn’t speak so much English. She talked a lot better than my Portuguese, but from the very start, we had a really, really strong connection and it was just a crazy time. And this song’s just talking about those experiences, which they just stick in my head. So, that was really one of the easier ones to write about.”
