Radiohead released a new music video for their long unreleased, but fan favorite track “Lift.” The song was recorded around the time of OK Computer, but remained unreleased until the 20-year anniversary release of OKNOTOK earlier this year. This is the third in a series of videos that Radiohead has produced for unreleased tracks, following “I Promise” and “Man of War.”
The video, directed by Oscar Hudson, shows Thom Yorke on an elevator whose doors open to increasingly more surreal scenarios. From upside down rooms whose Escher-like geometry don’t make sense, to line drawings whose reality doesn’t mesh, to Yorke eventually facing doppelgangers from alternate universes. The video turns reality on its head, like the best Radiohead videos from the past. Remember the “Just” video?
