Queens of the Stone Age released a new track off of their new album Villains. “The Evil Has Landed” is the second single released in advance of Villains arrival on August 25th via Matador Records. The first single, “The Way You Used to Do,” found the band embracing a more poppy sound, something more in line with what producer Mark Ronson is known for.
When asked about the title of the album, frontman Josh Homme offers, “The title Villains isn’t a political statement. It has nothing to do with Trump or any of that shit. It’s simply 1) a word that looks fantastic and 2) a comment on the three versions of every scenario: yours, mine and what actually happened.”
“The Evil Has Landed” finds Queens of the Stone Age in more familiar territory. The song checks all the boxes on your QOTSA checklist. Driving beat … check. Ripping guitars … check. Key signature change … you know it!
