PVRIS’ eclectic new track “Winter,” has debuted today. It is now the fourth track to be released off their upcoming album, All We Know of Heaven, All We Need of Hell, which will come out August 25 via Rise Records. The ten track release will also feature the previously dropped tracks “Half,” “What’s Wrong” and “Heaven,” which have built a growing hype already. PVRIS’ first record ‘White Noise’ gained them recognition from NME, Spin, and MTV and they now have over 128 million Spotify streams and close to 36 million YouTube views. They have toured with Fall Out Boy and headlined their own successful world tour, making their upcoming world tour a highly anticipated event.
This tour will include huge festivals, arenas, and ampitheaters worldwide. It will include solo dates, as well as shows alongside Muse, Paramore and 30 Seconds to Mars. A portion of ticket sales will also be donated to The Ally Coalition in support of LGBTQ equality.
PVRIS’ unique blend of indie, pop punk, and alternative rock sounds lends them a huge sound, especially for a three piece. Frontwoman Lynn Gunn has a bold approach to vocals, revealing powerful emotion through raw but harmonious layers. Her vocals, and this record as a whole, will translate extremely well to vinyl. This record is great choice for PVRIS to release on vinyl and fans who take advantage of that option are sure to get a special experience.
The new track “Winter” begins with a hypnotic and sensual ambiance. It builds melodically, but in a way that is also high powered and avant garde. Gunn’s vocal is raw but given dreamy overtones and paired with upbeat instrumentals to create a unique energy. Her lyrics are direct and vulnerable. There is a beauty to the way she does the work of almost two singers, with both beauty and aggression evoked.
The track is structured in a creative way, like the other previously released tracks from the upcoming record have been. PVRIS’ sound is a little pop minded, but more dark and fully realized. Spacey samples and almost chaotic harmonies are sometimes oddly playful, but also cool and hyper-modern. They blend dance elements, punk energy, and haunting sensuality to shape an encompassing, full sound.
Their sound is not too pop, and has a drama that will play well on tour with Muse and 30 Seconds to Mars. They have the crossover appeal of Paramore but with a cinematic sense of movement more like Muse. From tender pianos and acoustic guitar, to badass punk outbursts, All We Know of Heaven, All We Need of Hell will be well received for it’s vivid synchronicity and encompassing energy. Preorder your copy today and make sure to catch PVRIS as they come to a city near you this autumn. Full tour dates below.
