Trent Reznor hinted that a new Nine Inch Nails release was coming soon in a tweet last week. And good on his word, Add Violence, their latest EP is coming digitally on July 21st. Both vinyl and CD versions follow on September 1st. Weighing in at five songs, this is the second release in a planned trilogy of EPs. The first, Not the Actual Events, was a surprise release in December of last year.
The album is purported to come with a “physical component,” which has yet to be announced. The physical component for Not the Actual Events was mysterious black powder.
With the EP announcement, Nine Inch Nails also released a new video for “Less Than.” The video, directed by Brook Linder depicts a girl playing a retro video game on a tube television. As the video goes on the girls eyes begin to cloud over and the video game begins to short out the television and eventually tries to escape the box altogether.
Nine Inch Nails headline FYF Fest here in Los Angeles on Sunday July 23rd. There are still single day passes available for that night and festival passes are also available. Pick up your tickets here.
