An Indie Rock band from Montreal, Men I Trust is known for their smooth sound and calm melodies that make you want to sway back and forth. There latest single, “Show Me How” is exactly that, composed and charming, with Emma, lead vocals, and guitar, gently singing over the track.
Beginning with a classic drum beat followed by guitar playing, Emma sings in a sweet whispery voice, reminiscent of a Hollywood golden era siren. As the song reaches the chorus, the drums pick up, with Emma harmonizing with her own voice.
The accompanying music video is a nice mix of modern Indie and classic cinema styles. Emma walks around a casino, a casual tourist, looking at the bright lights and people playing slots. The golden lighting gives the film an almost aged appearance, reflecting a different era, while still being modern as we see a Starbucks sign between fade-outs of Emma walking and singing. The contrast between the modern setting and the classic sound of the song help to add to the cool feel of the music.
