Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein of synthwave superband SURVIVE are performing their score to the Netflix phenomenon Stranger Things live at the Ace Hotel on November 11th. The second season of the show premieres October 31st, and the duo will be playing music featured in the new season as well as music from their Grammy-nominated soundtrack to season one. The TV score is the only one in history to receive two Grammy nominations for a single season.
The exposure from the show has rocketed SURVIVE to the forefront of the synthwave movement and elevated them from a local Austin band to an International draw. Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein have become the faces of the group, and they have toured both the US and Europe in the past year, and have become a must have on music festival rosters all over the world.
SURVIVE started on local Austin label Holodeck Records which they co-founded, highlighting artists in the burgeoning Austin synthwave scene. Many of their label mates have been featured in supporting positions on their world tour like Ssleeperhold and M Geddes Gengras. Their latest release RR7349 was released to great acclaim last year on Relapse Records. Read the Get Some review of the album here.
