Dutch synthwave pioneer Timecop1983 has collaborated with Dallas based vocalist Jessie Frye to craft sweet synthpop perfection on the track “Faded Memory.”
The song has a dreamy synth line propelling it forward, while Frye’s breathy vocals weave in and out of the music like the fading memory she is singing about. The song slowly builds adding 80’s sounding handclaps and a subtle guitar. This is retrowave at its best, composed of sounds from the past, but firmly grounded in contemporary pop.
The video, directed by Jessie Frye & Cameron J. Smith, shows Frye dancing alone at night on a bridge, in a club and on top of a building. A guy skateboards, symbolizing her memories of an old love that is now “like a faded photograph/in the past.”
If a song this good comes out of their first collaboration, let’s all hope for more in the future.
