Jack White has been teasing new music for a while, but today he made it official. Boarding House Reach is the title of his follow up album to 2014’s Lazaretto. Though it does not have an official release date, we know it was recorded in Nashville, Los Angeles and New York City. White shared two new songs, “Connected by Love” and “Respect Commander.”
“Connected by Love” comes complete with a beautifully directed video by Pasqual Gutierrez. In it, the world is shown through interweaving stories of family coming together during what appears to be the end of the world. Jack White is singing alone in a hotel room, while the rest of the world seems to be joining together under some cataclysmic event that has the moon getting bigger and bigger as it gets closer to the Earth.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, White explained the genesis of the song, “I just started humming notes out loud, staring out the window. After that, you really can’t explain it. You just have to get out of the way and let it happen. And you don’t really notice it as it’s happening.”
