The Danish drum and key wizards known as Hellas have outdone themselves on their latest single, “Dances.” The first three and half minutes of the song is an anxious, sort of eerie; super cinematic buildup of piano and percussion. This sounds straight out of a noir film, or maybe a crime show music score. But then the song switches gear big time and the last minute and a half are a joyous, psychedelic freak out. If you’re not dancing in your chair while ascending to a higher consciousness at the end of this one; you might be listening wrong.
