FIDLAR PARTIES HARD AT THE HOLLYWOOD PALLADIUM

FIDLAR just wrapped up their 2018 North American tour with an action-packed gig at the Hollywood Palladium. Over the past five years, FIDLAR has united all the Southern California tribes of skate punk, indie and garage rock into a massive, ‘fuck it dawg life’s a risk’ army. They’ve gone from playing house shows to the freaking Palladium. This final hometown tour ender meant the band could give it 110% and sleep it off in their own beds for a change.

Opening with “Alcohol,” a new track off their forthcoming third album, ‘Almost Free‘, the band and the crowd went apeshit from the very beginning. Much like our last FIDLAR adventure in February, the beers started flying within seconds of the band taking the stage.

Over the years FIDLAR’s sound has evolved to include ADHD pogo punk, super introspective sad jamz, heavy Southern-fried rockers and 90’s alt-rock head trips. The band covered all the bases in Hollywood on this night. “Punks” got heads banging, “Untitled sad song” [also known as =( ] had everyone in their feelz, new song’s like “Too Real” and “Can’t You See” kept heads bobbing, and every song they played off their 2013 self-titled debut prompted Wrestlemania on the floor.

FIDLAR’s catchy songs and unique three-pronged vocal attack, with lead vocals, split between guitarists Zac Carper and Elvis Kuehn, and backing shouts handled by bassist Brandon Schwartzel, is the perfect recipe for maximum crowd singing. You could barely hear the band during portions of “Stoked and Broke” and “West Coast,” that’s how loud and boisterous the audience was. In short, FIDLAR’s final gig of their North American tour was a massive homecoming party for LA’s favourite punks. Emphasis on the party.
