Father John Misty

Father John Misty released a stop-motion animated new video today for the track “Things It Would Have Been Helpful to Know Before the Revolution” off of his latest Pure Comedy. Directed by Chris Hopewell (Radiohead’s “Burn the Witch” and Run the Jewels’ “Don’t Get Captured”) the video features a lone human wandering through a desolate and empty landscape searching for contact. He wanders through deserts and empty cities, discovering that cockroaches have taken over and are celebrating. The video ends with him lighting a chain of phones, the objects that we use to connect to others, lighting up to spell “Phones for Cheap.” Before the camera pulls out to reveal out planet revolving alone in space.

Josh Tillman is auctioning the puppets used in the video and donating the proceeds to the Environmental Defense Fund. The auction begins today and ends on the 13th. You can own your very own piece of the video by bidding here.

Father John Misty is currently on tour. He plays the Greek Theater here in Los Angeles on October 13th. Buy your tickets here. Get your very own copy of Pure Comedy on Deluxe vinyl, complete with holographic card here.
