In their most recent appearance in Los Angeles, the Australian electronic music band Cut Copy took over The Wiltern. You may be familiar with some of their hit singles such as “Lights & Music”, “Hearts on Fire”, and their newest single, “Standing In The Middle Of The Field”.
Having released 4 albums since 2005, the group has a plethora of songs to choose from to curate an amazing set. They played an upbeat set that catered to the high energy sound that is akin to their newest album, ‘Haiku From Zero‘.
Taking cues from groups like LCD Soundsystem, Air, and Daft Punk, but with a more pop-friendly sound, Cut Copy dominated the evening. Bassist and guitarist Tim Hoey creates a rift that Dan Whitford can grace with his groove inducing voice. Mitchell Scott controls percussion in a beautiful pocket, one you can hear easily in their newest single, “Standing In The Middle Of The Field”.
Cut Copy does a great job of creating a space that inspires fans of all ages to sing along and dance to their heart’s desire. Cut Copy owns any stage they create on and are a beacon for new-age pop. Keep an eye on their website for upcoming tour dates and festival appearances to showcase their new album!
