Cut Copy announced their new album today, their first studio album in four years. Haiku from Zero will arrive on September 22nd from Astralwerks. They also released their second single from the new album, “Standing in the Middle of the Field.” Listen to it here.
“So much of this album is about this mosaic of information, images that we’re surrounded by on a day-to-day basis,” says Dan Whitford. “Sometimes it feels like overload, but there’s a weird random beauty in it. The idea of squeezing poetry from chaos was where the title of the album came from – the idea of finding something poetic in the overload.”
Their first single “Airborne” met with widespread critical acclaim, and had a video directed by Gerson Aguerri of Barcelona-based art collective CANADA. In it, frontman Dan Whitford is sucked into a late-night rabbit hole populated by weird characters and even weirder landscapes.
Cut Copy also announced a headlining tour, which will see them playing the Shrine Expo Hall here in Los Angeles on November 11th. Tickets go on sale to the general public tomorrow at 10AM, but you can get yours now by signing up for the Cut Copy fan club here.
You can pre-order Haiku from Zero here. Look out for the vinyl preorder at select stores, they are offering an limited edition 7″ with an exclusive track. Stores will be announced shortly.
