The Boston Calling Festival has announced its 2018 lineup today. Headliners Eminem and Jack White are also headlining The Governor’s Ball Festival in NYC in June, and Eminem was also announced to headline Coachella, so he is really working the Festival circuit this year to push his latest album Revival. Radio darlings The Killers are also headlining.
Festival veterans like Portugal, the Man, Tyler, the Creator, Queens of the Stone Age will be mixing it up with Indie darlings like The Decembrists and Dirty Projectors. Aaron Dessner of The National curates the lineup, so of course The National is on the bill every year. Local acts like rising hip-hop duo STL GLD and Weakened Friends from Portland, Maine are also featured in prominent spots.
But Boston Calling is much more than just a music festival. Harvard graduate Natalie Portman will be headlining the “Comedy and Entertainment Lineup” after having to cancel her 2017 “movie experience.” Comedians Jenny Slate, Cameron Esposito, Max Silvestri, Martin Urbano and Tony Hinchcliffe will also make appearances.
This festival even has live podcasts. The popular political podcast Pod Save America, hosted by four former Obama aides, including Boston native Jon Favreau (not the director). Former Obama speechwriter Jon Lovett’s Lovett or Leave It podcast will also be presented.
The 3-day musical extravaganza takes place May 25-27 at the Harvard Athletic Complex. Tickets are available in several tiers, including a Platinum Experience that includes a gifting tent and daily gourmet nibbles as well as parking and priority admittance. Tickets are on sale now here.
