An emerging new band of innovative Australian musicians known as Mildlife, have released “The Magnificent Moon”, the first single from their forthcoming debut LP. Melding multiple genres and sounds, if this 9-minute track is anything like what is to come, then Mildlife will quickly gain notoriety.
Already known in Australia as a powerful live act with impressive improvisation, the band show in this single their impressive diversity of sounds. From funk to synth-pop, house and dance, psychedelic rock, “The Magnificent Moon” touches on an impressive array of unique sounds from a simple a bass/guitar/drum/keys setup.
Moments during “The Magnificent Moon” remind of other successful artists in the genre, especially Poolside and Tame Impala (not shocking given they are fellow Aussies) but with a tone and flow that feels fresh and classic simultaneously. The crisp bass and smooth guitar are balanced wonderfully with the synthesizer, and for the most part the song is instrumental. It has captured a rock+dance vibe that will surely translate well to the live circuit.
Mildlife’s debut album ‘Phase’ will be released on February 23rd via Research Records.
